Soyjak Siege

“I heard on the news that a prolific serial killer stole the last Gem from its spot in the town square. I should start my quest here, though the citygoers won't be pleased when they find out I never got my Colorus boosters.”
The opening line of Soyjak Siege sounds a bit absurd, but it perfectly throws the player straight into a chaotic world where everything is going wrong. Then you start controlling a Soyjak head, standing in the middle of a battlefield full of enemies, surviving and trying to become stronger with each wave of attacks.

Gameplay in Soyjak Siege

The gameplay of Soyjak Siege revolves around surviving against waves of enemies constantly coming from all sides. Your character automatically fires, and your main task is to move, dodge collisions, and maintain a safe position to avoid being cornered.

You use the arrow keys to move, mainly to maintain distance from enemies for consistent firing. However, the game doesn't allow you to "stand still and farm" for too long. Moving too much in a constant, fleeing style easily corners you and reduces your manoeuvring space. Therefore, an effective playstyle is usually to stay in the centre and move in a loop: left, down, right, and then up to return to your original position.

The enemies in the game are not only diverse in number but also vary in difficulty. Some levels are packed with enemies, while others feature tough, relentless pursuers. Plus, certain adversaries shoot from afar and avoiding is a lot harder even if the damage per shot isn't huge.

Soyjak Siege survival guide

Stay centred instead of roaming

Continuous movement is required, but do not stray from the centre for too long. Circular mobility (left – down – right – up) helps you dodge assaults without getting yourself into blind spots.

Watch out for enemy projectile spam

If you have many adversaries, concentrate on AoE upgrades like the Squirrel Support or AoE explosions to clear the screen fast. But when dealing with a few high-health foes persistently harassing you, switch to single-target upgrades to deal with them more effectively.

Pick upgrades based on each wave

Collisions don't solely cause damage. Many enemies also fire small bullets; individual damage isn't high, but if hit repeatedly, your health will drop rapidly. So, dodging is not just about avoiding enemies; it's also about dodging the barrage of bullets on the screen.

Soyjak Siege presents a challenging and dramatic test. Are you ready to fight, dodge, and upgrade yourself to become stronger and stronger to battle against a massive and increasingly aggressive enemy force?
