In the game Donkey Kong, the player has to run, jump, and climb ladders and platforms to get to the top of a construction site and save Pauline from a huge gorilla.
Donkey Kong was the first platform game with jumping, so the player has to jump over obstacles and between gaps to avoid enemies.
The player has a score as well as the goal of saving Pauline. You get points for doing things like jumping over obstacles, smashing things with a hammer power-up, collecting things like hats, parasols, and purses, taking rivets off of platforms, and finishing each stage, as shown by a bonus counter that goes down over time.
The game starts with three lives, and 7,000 points get you an extra life. Mario loses a life when he hits Donkey Kong or an enemy, falls too far, or lets the bonus counter run out. When all of your lives are gone, the game is over.
Have fun and good luck!
